Over the past 30 years, Quentin Tarantino has been one of Hollywood’s most recognizable filmmaker voices, with nearly all of his projects written and directed by him.  So, his next movie, ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’, is a very interesting change of pace.

While the movie is based on Tarantino’s screenplay and continues the story of Brad Pitt’s fan-favorite character from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the acclaimed filmmaker won’t be sitting in the director’s chair. Instead, it’s up to David Fincher to make it one of the most fascinating creative partnerships in recent memory. It’s the sort of surprise that excites and arouses curiosity in movie enthusiasts.

‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’ Is A New Chapter For Quentin Tarantino’s Career

For the majority of his career, Tarantino has kept tight control over his work. Whether it’s ‘Pulp Fiction’, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ or ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’, his signature style has always been tied to the script and direction. That makes ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’ a big deal.

It’s the first time in about 30 years that Tarantino hasn’t directed his own movie. It also gives him the option to continue following his famous policy of directing a maximum of 10 feature films before retiring from directing.

Instead of taking a sequel as his possible swan song, Tarantino seems to be saving that last directorial job for an entirely new project. Meanwhile, he can find out what happens when another great director adapts his film. It’s a big step, particularly because audiences equate Tarantino’s writing with his directing.

How David Fincher Could Make This Even More Interesting

If there’s anyone capable of taking on the challenge, it’s David Fincher. Fincher is known for his films like ‘Se7en’, ‘Gone Girl’, and ‘The Social Network’, which are characterized by their attention to detail, atmosphere, and precision. His style is very different from Tarantino’s, and that’s what makes this collaboration so interesting.

Fincher has the chance to take a fresh look at Cliff Booth’s world, but without abandoning the character audiences loved, just recreating it. Then there’s Brad Pitt, whose Oscar-winning performance helped make Booth one of Tarantino’s most beloved creations.

His return is crucial to tie the original film together with this new one. It’s hard to say what this strange, creative venture will be like in theaters. However, the fact that Tarantino is writing, Fincher is directing, and Pitt is starring in the film makes ‘The Adventures of Cliff Booth’ one of the most interesting projects in Hollywood.
