Although the sixth and final season of the legendary series, ‘Peaky Blinders’, aired in late April, the story of Tommy Shelby is not over yet. The series wrapped up in such a way that many things were left unsaid. Fans were quite upset to know that they wouldn’t get to see their favorite character taking a walk on the streets of Birmingham with a cigarette in his hand.
But, it seems like the creator of the hit BBC drama Steven Knight has some good news for everyone. Well, there’s no seventh season of the show, but maybe a feature film on Tommy Shelby will give fans closure.

While, the announcement of making a spin-off feature film of ‘Peaky Blinders‘ was already making waves in the hearts of millions of fans, some new insights from the creator has taken the excitement to another level. During the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony in Birmingham on Thursday, Knight confirmed that the show will see Murphy as Tommy Shelby once again. “Peaky’s coming home,” Knight said. “I’m writing it right now. I mean, I’m nearly done writing it, and we’re going to shoot it… I’m setting up some film and television studios in Digbeth in Birmingham.”
“We’re going to shoot it at the studios in Digbeth, and on location in Digbeth in Birmingham. Digbeth and Small Heath is where the Peaky Blinders actually roamed. So it’s like Peaky’s coming home, basically,” he added.
Showrunner Wants To Host A “Peaky” Event
Alongside giving insights regarding the upcoming project, Knight also informed that filming is due to begin within the next 18 months but there is no release date in sight as of yet as it will “depend on the distributors and things.”
The curse of the COVID pandemic impacted many productions and ultimately led to the cancellation of the seventh season of ‘Peaky Blinders‘. Knight shared how he is looking forward to showcase the movie at an event where people can watch it together.
“I’m just really looking forward to having a Peaky event where people can watch it communally,” he said. “I mean, the social media community is so strong and people talk to each other. But to actually be together physically will be really interesting.”
