Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White play Kevin and Kerry Von Erich – the two brothers belonging to the most popular family of wrestlers. The film’s trailer begins with Kevin Von Erich quoting, “Ever since I was a child, people said My family was cursed, Mom tried to protect us with God. Pop tried to protect us with wrestling. He said if we were the toughest, strongest, nothing could ever hurt us. I believed it. We all did.”

Under the guidance of Fritz Von Erich, their father, the brothers form their family’s legacy in the boxing ring. He also lists the brothers in the order of his favoritism, but soon the brothers realize the biggest bully in their life is their father.

The official synopsis of ‘The Iron Claw‘ from A24 reads, “Based on a true story, the film follows the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day.”

According to D Magazine, Jack Adkisson was a football star at Southern Methodist University who played for the then-Dallas Texans of the National Football League for a short duration. Later, in the 1950s, Adkisson started wrestling and adopted a Nazi villain character named Fritz Von Erich. He came up with an Iron Claw move, spreading his hand over an opponent’s face and then squeezing. As his popularity grew, he also reeled in his children into the field creating history in the ring.
