Jada Pinkett Smith made a shocking statement recently that Will Smith and she have been living separately for seven years since 2016. During an interview with Today, Jada confessed, “We live separately. I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”
Jada Pinkett Smith has been on a promotional drive to promote her upcoming book, ‘Worthy’. During an interview with People, the actress talked about the media frenzy over the years about their divorce. She revealed that during one such time, Chris Rock thought Will and she were separating.
Jada Pinkett Smith said, “This particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’
The ‘Collateral’ actress was surprised. “And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that,” she added.

The Actress Thought Will Smith And Chris Rock’s Oscars Slap Was A Skit
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony is permanently marred by the slapgate that stunned the entire globe. Chris Rock was hosting a segment during which he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.
Jada came to the ceremony with Will Smith, who was nominated in the ‘Best Actor’ category for ‘King Richard’. The comedian made a G.I. Joe joke about Jada’s alopecia condition. Will went onto the stage and slapped him. After he settled on his seat, he said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth”.
Due to Will Smith’s violent reaction, he was barred from attending the Oscar ceremony for 10 years. During a cover interview for People, Jada said that she thought the slap was part of a skit.
