The girl band in Blackpink has been a fan of the Princess of Pop, Britney Spears. Spears had a very successful year in 2023 with her memoir, and the singer finally took agency of her story. Britney has been posting videos of her dancing on Instagram. The fans found that she was a Blackpink stan when she used ‘How I Like That’ in one of the videos. After Rosé called the singer an icon, Lisa covered one of Spears’ Christmas songs, paying tribute to the pop star.

Lisa Covers Britney Spears’ ‘My Only Wish’
On Instagram, Lisa gave a surprise to her Blinks by releasing the cover of Britney Spears’ 2000 song ‘My Only Wish (This Year)’. Later, the singer released the video for the cover on YouTube. She shot the song in Paris. Lisa released the cover song on the heels of the virtual reality concert ‘Blackpink: A VR Encore’ on December 26, 2023.
Britney Spears ‘My Only Wish’ was part of a collaborative Christmas album released in 2000 titled ‘Platinum Christmas’ by Jive Records. The album featured Britney’s ex’s band, NSYNC, Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boy, and others. Lisa wrote, “Christmas present for my Blinks… Have a wonderful holiday.”

Lisa Was Worried To Go Solo
‘My Only Wish’ cover by Lisa is the third solo project of the artist after her 2021 album ‘Lalisa’ and single ‘SG’ with DJ Snake, Megan Thee Stallion, and DJ Snake. After Lisa, Jennie also went solo, as she is now focusing on her business, ‘OA’. She released a single titled ‘You & Me’ in October 2023 after appearing on the disastrous TV series ‘The Idol’.
During an interview with 102.7 KIIS FM’s iHeartRadio Countdown, Blackpink’s Lisa talked about her thoughts before going solo.
Lisa said, “I was worried at first because, you know, this is my time doing things by myself, without the team, without the members.” She also said that the band members were supportive as she went on a solo career.
