Toby Keith‘s death came across as a shock to many. The country music icon, who gained momentum with his hit ‘Should’ve Been A Cowboy‘ breathed his last on 5th February 2024. The singer died peacefully surrounded by his loved ones and family.
Post his death, new revelations regarding the country singer have been revealed, one of which has been revealed by Brett Favre.

Toby Keith Stopped Chemo Before His Death
Talking about Toby Keith’s last days, Brett Favre said, “I think in the end he was just tired. He did say that to me when we had our conversation, he said, ‘Brett… whatever happens, I’m okay with it.’”
Favre also revealed that he would call Keith every three months to check in on him. Talking about Keith discontinuing his chemo, he said, “He said, ‘I quit chemo and it probably did more damage to me than the cancer did’. And he said, ‘I just hope I didn’t quit it too late, but… I’m thankful I got a chance to play some shows. I finished them.’”
Keith and Favre had been good friends for a long time and had a long-lasting friendship. As an ode to their friendship, Favre added that he would “remember him smiling, and had everyone hooting and hollering and having a lot of fun.”

Toby Keith’s Son’s Emotional Tribute For The Singer
The singer’s son penned an emotional goodbye to his father, along with a sweet throwback picture.
Keith’s son Stelen wrote: “You are the strongest man I have ever known. A fighter. A true titan of your industry. My guiding star. My coach. My hero.An embodiment of the American Spirit.You are a man whose strength, prowess, and talent could only be trumped by his ability to be a father and husband.”

His post further added, “Your impact is forever stamped on the world and on millions of people, yet not one person knew you the way I did. You were my biggest champion and the guiding light in my darkest times. The best mentor a man could ask for.You held a passion that was greater than mountains and it radiates through every lyric and chord. In the everlasting echo from the legacy of your music, you leave me strength and faith to lean on in the silence that follows.”
He ended the post by writing, “I love you cowboy” followed by a cowboy emoji and a white heart.
