There was a time when ‘Levitating’ was always the song playing when you open any social media. The rhythmic beats and catchy lyrics were ones that everyone listened to and danced to for a very long time. But Dua Lipa is being sued for the third time for her massive hit.
The most popular track from British-Albanian singer’s 2020 album ‘Future Nostalgia’ is this time targeted by musician Kante Besko. The song was sued twice before in 2022. A multi-million dollar copyright claim has been filed by the artist. Here’s why Dua Lipa’s Levitating is facing trouble again.

Dua Lipa’s ‘Levitating’ Being Sued The Third Time
Kante points out that Dua Lipa and Warner Music Group have unlawfully used a recording made with his talk box in the remix of the song. According to the agreement between Kante and the ‘Levitating‘ creators, the recording was to be used only in the original recording and not in the subsequent remixes. The artist has claimed more than $20 million for the alleged copyright infringement on multiple remixes. They include the smash ‘Levitating’ remix with rapper DaBaby and also ‘The Blessed Madonna’.
Though Kante hasn’t responded yet, his lawyers commented that the artist “made numerous attempts to resolve this matter short of litigation, but such efforts were unsuccessful, due to Defendants’ unwillingness to cooperate or accept responsibility for this blatant infringement of Plaintiff’s copyrights”. The claimant also points out that the remixes incorporated more of Kante’s work than that was used in the original single. The 27-year-old singer is yet to respond to the claims.

Why Dua Lipa Got Sued Twice For ‘Levitating’ In 2020
Two other lawsuits had been filed against the smash hit ‘Levitating’ in 2022. Artikal Sound System, a Florida-based reggae band accused Dua Lipa of stealing Levitating’s core from their 2017 song ‘Live Your Life‘. The case was dropped in June 2023. The judge had ruled it out as there was no evidence that the singer or creators had access to the earlier track.
Songwriters L. Russell Brown and Sandy Linzer also have a similar claim that certain parts of their song were used in ‘Levitating‘. The songwriters claim that the melody of ‘Levitating‘ was lifted from their lesser-known 1979 song ‘Wiggle and Giggle All Night‘ and the 1980 track ‘Don Diablo‘. The singer’s representative said that she had never heard the song before.
