She talked about her reaction after getting a call from Taylor Swift for the collaboration and how emotional she got after learning about it through her manager. Here’s what she said.
Ice Spice Got Emotional After Getting A Call From Taylor Swift For ‘Karma’ Remix
After making a banger collaboration with her, Ice Spice revealed that she considers Taylor Swift as her “closest celebrity friend”. During an interview with Rolling Stone, Ice Spice recalled how surprised and emotional she was after getting a call from Taylor for the ‘Karma’ collaboration.
“I remember my manager called me, and he usually texts, but he called, and he’s like, ‘You ready for this one?’ And I’m thinking it’s going to be some bad news or something,” Ice Spice recalled.
She continued, “He’s like, ‘Taylor Swift has a record for you to get on from her album.’ I’m playing it cool on the phone. I’m like, ‘Oh, that’s cool. Super cool.’ And then I hang up the phone and I’m hysterically crying.”
Ice even noted that the moment got captured on camera as her longtime producer Riot was also present in her New Jersey apartment, where she got the call.

Everyone Was Not Thrilled By Taylor Swift And Ice Spice’s Collaboration
When Taylor Swift announced her collaboration with Ice Spice, many of her fans weren’t exactly thrilled about it. At that time, the ‘Munch’ rapper was involved in a controversy with Taylor’s ex-boyfriend Matt Healy, promoting some online speculation about Taylor’s intention behind the collaboration.
Before Taylor and Matt’s relationship in 2023, he also appeared in a show where he laughed at the offensive jokes of the host calling Spice “an Inuit Spice Girl” and other offensive things.
Ice didn’t address the controversy at the time but mentioned that the band member apologized to her multiple times. She also shared that she’s a “huge” fan of his band. “He apologized multiple times, but I didn’t realize how big of a deal it was to other people. I feel like people just wanted something to be mad about, I guess. I wasn’t angry or sad or anything. I was just kind of confused. I never really cared about that,” Ice Spice added during the same interview.
Moreover, Ice feels that her and Taylor’s personalities mesh well and she also finds her funny.
