    “I Suddenly Was Famous And I Couldn’t Relate To Anybody”: Billie Eilish Opens Up About The Struggles Of Finding Success And Losing Friends 

    The life of celebrities has always had an appeal to fans. The glam, the popularity, the money and the fame all might seem something to be looking out for but we often forget the downside of it. From being stalked by fans to having personal pictures leaked and being trolled online- there are a lot of downsides too, and singer Billie Eilish reveals how she lost all her friends after becoming famous.

    The ‘Lunch’ singer opened up about it on the BBC’s “Miss Me?” podcast. It is hosted by singer Lily Allen and British TV personality Miquita Oliver.

    The 22-year-old singer has already gained a lot of popularity and fame. She has achieved a lot at such an young age. Eilish has received multiple accolades, including nine Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards and many more. But fame came at a cost to the young singer. She misses her friends whom she lost when she became famous. 

    The ‘Therefore I Am’ singer opened up about it on the BBC podcast while talking to hosts Lily Allen and Miquita Oliver. Fame came to Eilish at the young age of 14 and her world was turned upside down. “Well, I lost all of my friends when I got famous,” Eilish said. “I suddenly was famous and I couldn’t relate to anybody. It was tough. It was really hard.”

    The Grammy awards winning musician revealed on the podcast that only one friend stayed by her side. And that was her best friend Zoe. Billie Eilish has often posted about Zoe on her Instagram. “And then it was my 20th birthday and I remember looking around the room and it was only people that I employ. And all 15 years or more older than me,” the singer recalled.

    The What was I Made For?’ singer then talked about her abandonment issues. When one of her employees quit and stopped communication, Eilish realised it was all professional. “It was the worst thing that happened to me. And that made me realize like, ‘Oh wait, this is a job.’ If they left me, they would never see me again,” she added. “I’m very freaked out by loss and I have a lot of abandonment problems,” she explained.

    However, she has reconnected with old friends and even went to a Coachella party. “Exactly a year ago, I reconnected with a bunch of old friends and now, I have so many friends,” Eilish said. “I have a crew now. I could literally cry about it. It’s been the greatest thing that’s happened to me.”
