Olivia Rodrigo seems to have taken inspiration from her icon Taylor Swift once again as she sings about falling in love with a certain British lad, which takes us back to Taylor Swift singing about her ‘London Boy’ in 2019, hopelessly, torturously in love.
Rodrigo’s track, which is featured in the deluxe version of her album, is a sweet nod to her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, as the two confirmed their dating rumors after being seen indulging in PDA in public.
The song talks about Olivia being in love with him and how he says that she is ‘so American’, which exhibits similar vibes to Swift’s ‘London Boy’ where she talks about her then-boyfriend Joe Alwyn whom she wrote several songs with and for. Though the lyrical parallels are similar, and so is the whole American X British trope, the comparisons have been floating on social media as people are calling Olivia’s song the other version of ‘London Boy’.
It’s worthy to note that Rodrigo has had past instances of taking inspiration from Swift’s music as she sampled Swift’s ‘New Year’s Day’ in her song ‘1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back’ and ‘Cruel Summer’ in her song ‘Deja Vu,’ She later gave Swift rights for the music.
This little incident allegedly started a feud between both the Grammy-winning artists.

Olivia Rodrigo And Louis Partridge’s Relationship
Rumors started in October 2023 when the couple was seen together in London. A source close to the couple said, “They met through mutual pals earlier in the year and have been messaging quite a bit. She has spent a few days in the capital hanging out with them all but it’s been Louis who she has been inseparable from. They have been for dinners and nights out. They hit a club together on Friday night and were acting very coupley. It’s really sweet to see her happy.”
In December, Partridge attended Rodrigo’s concert as he was seen recording her from the audience.

Quite recently, the actor opened up on how it’s like to date Olivia, saying that “dating probably shouldn’t be done in the public eye. There’s enough going on between two people. You don’t need the voices of thousands of others in your head. I think she’s got it a lot worse than I have. I can be a bit of a normal person. She’s got tons and tons of eyes on her case.”
