When lights are as bright as of the Grammys, even stars like SZA can be rendered starstruck. But who can blame her, it’s not just us common folks who get shy around Queen Beyonce.
The 34-year-old singer just had an out of the fairy books Grammy night. With three Grammys in her name, the ‘SOS’ artist just couldn’t believe how far she finally made a mark. Surrounded by artists she grew up jamming to, it can get a bit overwhelming.
SZA Was Too Starstruck For Beyoncé
The Grammy winner gave E! News an insight into her magical night. And it seems she’s as human as the rest of us when it comes to encountering the incomparable Beyoncé.
SZA admitted, “I was scared to go over to Beyoncé.” The ‘Kill Bill’ singer explained her thought process, saying, “I can’t speak unless she wants to speak, in my brain, because I don’t want to bother her. She looked so peaceful and beautiful.” What a universally relatable feeling that is, imagining talking to a musical deity like Beyoncé.
The ‘Snooze’ singer couldn’t help but shower Queen Bey with praises, describing her as a “masterclass on poise, grace, artistry, beauty, and kindness.” It’s safe to say SZA’s awe of Beyoncé goes beyond just her incredible vocal talents, it’s the entire package.
While the Grammy-winning artist missed her chance with Beyoncé, she did get a wave in with another Carter family member. The singer happily shared, “Jay-Z did speak to me.” Expressing her gratitude, she added, “Those are literally my favorite people, and it’s so crazy that I be seeing them in real life.” Turns out she’s not just a Beyonce fan as the singer proclaimed, “Jay-Z means the world to me. I’m a Jay-Z stan so bad.”

SZA’s Grammy Wins
Aside from the star encounters, SZA also triumphed at the Grammys, bagging three awards. Her victories include Best Urban Contemporary Album for ‘SOS,’ Best R&B Song for ‘Snooze, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for ‘Ghosts in the Machine‘ with Phoebe Bridgers.
Marking this achievement as a milestone the singer has aspirations that go beyond the music realm. Collaborating with Mastercard for the Priceless Planet Coalition, SZA aims to contribute to the restoration of 100 million trees globally. Expressing her desire to extend her impact beyond music she shared, “I just want to branch out and see what kind of woman I really want to be.”
