Singer, songwriter, and actress Courtney Love known for her role as the frontwoman of the band Hole and for her marriage to Kurt Cobain, spoke about her opinions on Taylor Swift.
Love is known for being unapologetically outspoken. So, it’s not surprising that the singer did not shy away from sharing her thoughts about Swift. A lot of people hesitate before speaking about Swift, who has been regarded as the “most powerful person in America” by even Dakota Johnson due to her cult-like following. However, Love is not one of her fans. In an interview with the UK publication The Standard she opened up about the female artists she liked.
She revealed Patti Smith, Nina Simone, PJ Harvey, and Debbie Harry were the female musicians of her choice. However, when it came to the one she didn’t she started with Taylor Swift. “Taylor is not important. She might be a safe space for girls, and she’s probably the Madonna of now, but she’s not interesting as an artist,” she said.
After Taylor she talked about not liking Lana Del Rey, “I haven’t liked Lana since she covered a John Denver song.” She explained that she used to like Lana but she should take some time off, more specifically ‘7 years’.

Courtney Love Also Doesn’t Like Madonna
Despite Courtney being quick to criticize women and the people she doesn’t like she has also stood up for them back in the day. She called out the Rock and Roll community for the lack of representation of female artists. “Why are women so marginalized by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?” she asked in an interview with the Guardian.
Additionally, after comparing Taylor to Madonna she revealed that she wasn’t a fan of Madonna either. She talked about how the two didn’t like each other despite Love appreciating some of her songs.
