    Why Coachella Has To Pay A Fine?

    The first weekend of the most awaited music festival, Coachella, concluded on April 16th, 2023.     For the first weekend of 2023, artists like Bad Bunny, Rosalía, Blink-182, and others set the weekend vibe for the next two weekends. The festival was live-streamed on YouTube, making performances of fans’ favorite artists accessible to the audience in the comfort of their homes. However, during the first weekend, the organizers, Goldenvoice, had to face financial penalties for continuing beyond the curfew time.

    Coachella Was Fined With $117,000 During Their First Weekend

    Coachella organizers, Goldenvoice, were penalized for breaking city curfew for all three nights during the first weekend of the festival. In 2013, the organizers and Indio agreed to the penalties to be paid if they overran the festival beyond the prescribed time. If the festival gets extended for five minutes, they have to pay $20,000 worth of fines. They will have to pay $1,000 per minute after the five minutes.

    On April 16, 2023, Coachella got extended due to Frank Ocean’s set. It started an hour after the scheduled time. The set carried on for around 25 minutes. On April 15 and 16, 2023, the festival went on for 25 minutes and 22 minutes, respectively, past the curfew time. So, now, Coachella’s organizers have to pay a sum of $117,000 to the city. The amount goes to Indio’s General Fund, which is then used for administrative and reparation purposes.

    During Coachella 2023, there were many history-making sets performed. From Bad Bunny to Blackpink, the artists scripted history, representing their respective countries. Along with the K-pop group and the Puerto Rican artist, the Indian artist, Diljit Dosanjh, became the first Punjabi singer to perform at the prestigious music concert.

    Bad Bunny, the first Latin artist to headline Coachella, gave a two-hour, power-packed performance. His performance included songs from his Grammy-winning album, ‘Un Verano Sin Ti.’ He performed songs like ‘Safaera,’ ‘La Difícil,’ and Tití Me Pregunto.’ The artist maintained that it was a historic moment for the Latin music community. So, he played clips and showed pictures of his musical journey along that of his predecessors.
