Hey there, dragon-slayers and binge-watchers! Did you just wrap up ‘Damsel’ on Netflix and find yourself scratching your head about the ending? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with all the details on Princess Elodie’s wild adventure and whether we’ll be seeing more of her in a sequel!

Now we all know how much the 20-year-old Millie Bobby Brown likes to save the day, she’s been doing that since she was 11 (literary and literary). The British diva’s contract with Netflix has granted us more than one badass female lead movie. In the bright light of the ‘Damsel’ we can’t forget ‘Enola Holmes’ now, can we?

Alright, so the setting scene of this fantasy adventure is not that hard to picture. Think of Millie Bobby Brown as the ultimate princess, Elodie, not too hard eh? Now that princess, just like any other is all set to marry a crook in the disguise of the Prince Charming. As we have learned in our generation of pink tax and pronouns, no woke princess is marrying the prince for love. There got to be something else involved and for this damsel, it was her kingdom.

To save the kingdom she has to marry into this island’s royal family but plot twist alert! The royals have a diabolical plan up their sleeves, I know that sounds familiar but focus on the fictional royals for now. This diabolical plan is to sacrifice Elodie to a dragon for some island-sharing deal. Rude, right? That’s what we thought but it gets worse.

So far we’ve known that Princess Elodie’s not one to go down without a fight! Armed with courage, cunning, and an endless supply of magical slug goo (yeah, it’s a thing), she escapes the dragon’s lair not once, but twice! Along the way, she uncovers some shady secrets about the royal family and their dragon-dealing ways. Guess the princess dress didn’t make her give up her detective senses.

    The Plot Twist

Now that was a quick recap of the movie setting but since you didn’t get it on the screen, we have a detailed version of it right here, keep reading. While in the caves, waiting to be devoured by Drogon lite, Elodie learned the real reason for her stranded situation. Turns out, she is not just dinner to mama saurus but revenge kill. The real villain origin story is that the first king of the island killed the dragon’s three little babies and by the nature of the creature itself, there was hell to be rained on the island.

But the royal fam made a deal with the dungeon devil promising to deliver three daughters of every subsequent king to be slaughtered for revenge. Now you can guess that the royals haven’t been true to their deal as they have been sacrificing innocent girls in the place of their own. They’d pick stranded girls and ask them to marry into the royal family where a ceremony involving a bloody handshake would help them trick the big bad dragon into thinking the girls are king’s daughters.

You can now cue the dramatic battle that followed a heart-to-heart that turned the scaly foes into a friend. After Elodie finally reveals the truth of the situation to the dragon the power around the Aurea shifts pretty quickly.

The princess quickly pulls out her magical slug goo and gets herself and her new partner in crime battle-ready just in time to crash the royal wedding. Giving major Daenerys Targaryen vibes, Elodie flies to her ex’s castle in all her bloody and bruised glory. Our new warrior princess lets out the truth and then burns the mother-son down with their castle.

With a clever plan and some dragon diplomacy, Elodie saves the day and sails off into the sunset with her sister, stepmother and the newest fire-breathing friend by her side.

As we eagerly await news of a potential sequel, one thing’s certain, ‘Damsel’ has left its mark that is different from the one with distress.
