‘Bridgerton‘ fans are getting another love story. And this time, it’s about the woman who started it all! Netflix and Shondaland have announced a new limited series exploring the early romance between Violet Bridgerton and her late husband, Viscount Edmund Bridgerton.
The upcoming spin-off will take viewers back to their younger days and finally reveal how their love story began. And honestly, it’s a romance fans have been waiting to see!
‘Bridgerton’ Spin-Off Will Focus On Violet And Edmund’s Unfinished Romance
Netflix and Shondaland shared the exciting announcement on Instagram on Thursday. The upcoming series will explore the relationship between a young Violet and Edmund, giving fans a closer look at the romance that eventually brought the ‘Bridgerton‘ family together.

“The time has come for us to turn our attention to the Matriarch of our beloved Bridgertons,” the social media post said. Violet has remained a key part of the original Netflix series, with English actress Ruth Gemmell portraying her throughout the first four seasons.
The announcement also confirmed the show’s central love story. “A new series, chronicling the romance of a young Violet and Viscount Edmund Bridgerton, is underway,” the post added. However, Netflix has not yet revealed an official title or release date for the limited series.
Shonda Rhimes Returns To Expand The Universe
The new project will bring back some familiar names behind the scenes. Shonda Rhimes and Nicholas Nardini will serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Nardini previously worked as a producer on Queen Charlotte, the first Bridgerton spin-off.

The upcoming show will become the latest addition to Netflix’s growing Bridgerton universe. Queen Charlotte previously explored the younger years of Queen Charlotte and King George, giving viewers another romance beyond the main family’s story. Meanwhile, the original franchise draws on Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels. Set in the Regency era, the main series follows the Bridgerton siblings’ romantic journeys, with each installment putting a different family member’s love life at the center. Violet’s upcoming spin-off will offer something different by exploring the romance of the family’s parents.
Fans won’t have to rely on the spin-off alone for more ‘Bridgerton‘ content. Season 5 of the original Netflix series is currently in production in London, and the next chapter will explore Francesca Bridgerton’s romance with Michaela Stirling.
