‘Sweet Magnolias‘ was based on the novels by Sherryl Woods. Its fifth season arrived in June, but Netflix later decided not to bring the show back for another season. The story followed the three best friends as they helped each other through love, family, and work problems in Serenity, South Carolina.

Elliott finally addressed the cancellation on Instagram on Monday, October 5. She wrote, “To everyone who loved us, we love you just as much in return.” She then added, “I will miss this cast and crew dearly. Here’s to the beautiful Sweet Magnolias… one last time… Pour It Out 🌸.”
The Drop Dead Diva star also shared a photo of herself holding a margarita. It was a sweet reference to the show’s famous “Margarita Night.” Dana Sue, Helen, and Maddie would meet every week, drink margaritas, and “pour it out” by sharing gossip and talking about everything happening in their lives.
Justin Bruening Also Says Goodbye

Bruening, who played Maddie’s love interest Cal Maddox, also shared an emotional farewell on Monday. He called saying goodbye to the cast, crew, and fans “the hardest part of the whole thing.”

He wrote, “To our cast and crew: I will miss each and every one of you! It was because of you that every day I went to work didn’t feel like work since it was an absolute joy. We really had something special that set the bar extremely high for the future and set us apart. I’m grateful and honored to know you.” Bruening also thanked fans for giving him a stable job. He said filming allowed him and his wife, Alexa Havins, to enjoy a slower country life with their children that reminded them of their own childhoods.
Bruening added, “Our family of 5 became a family of 6…….and our children all have a slight, sweet southern drawl when they speak. We are going to miss our Georgia home with its relaxed rhythm and polite warmth.” He continued, “So thank you for all the moments, the milestones, and the memories! My family and I are eternally grateful and blessed………And since I hate goodbyes….I’ll just going to say so long for now……because this is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of another.” Headley replied that she’s “so grateful for our times together on and off the screen.”
Swisher wrote, “Love you and your beautiful family so much! And I will not stop until i can convince you guys to move back and join us in the country! Cal + Maddie forever ❤️ .” ‘Sweet Magnolias‘ first arrived in 2020 and soon gained a loyal fan base. A source said Netflix is “proud” of the work done by the cast and crew. The series reached 100 million views and appeared in the Global Weekly Top 10 14 times across more than 60 countries.
