It is not a piece of cake to bring a two-dimensional character to life. Marvel Cinematic Universe has done it and so has DC Universe. However, when Netflix put in efforts to follow the same trend, it failed miserably, especially when it came to Japanese manga and anime series. But Eiichiro Oda’s ‘One Piece‘ has not only set a new standard for Netflix’s anime adaptations but also created a lot of excitement for the future of the platform’s anime projects.
Previously, Netflix attempted to adapt the classic anime series ‘Dead Note’ and ‘Cowboy Bebop’ into a live-action series, but unfortunately, it ended up disappointing anime fans worldwide. Finally, the curse is lifted and ‘One Piece’ has become the best-rated anime adaptation live-action series.

How Did ‘One Piece’ Break Netflix’s Live-Action Adaptation Bad Streak?
Bringing a two-dimensional character to life and narrating the character’s journey is child’s play. Especially when it is adapted from a famous literature piece. However, ‘One Piece’ is Netflix’s success story in rightfully adapting the famous manga illustrated by Eiichiro Oda into an eight-hour-long episode.
One of the reasons why ‘One Piece’ has managed to break the bad streak is being loyal it its source material, unlike other failed Netflix’s anime adaptations. Instead of recreating the original story, the series takes a different approach to the narrative while staying faithful to the character design and backstories only so that both anime fans, as well as non-anime watchers, can enjoy the colorful visuals and narration.
