Sofia Vergara has become a tour de force in Hollywood. She gained notoriety through her 11-season role as Gloria Pritchett on ‘Modern Family’. Sofia also starred in other projects like ‘The Three Stooges’, ‘Machete Kills’, ‘Chef’, and others. However, there has not been a substantial project that has come her way. But the actress will soon be starring in Netflix’s ‘Griselda’ based on the life of ‘Cocaine Godmother’ Griselda Blanco.
In the early 1970s and 1980s, Miami became the hotspot of criminal activities like murders and drug trafficking, which was to be credited to Griselda Blanco. It is said that she started as early as the age of 11 in the drug business, only to become the queen of a drug cartel later. Griselda killed all her husbands, and she had three children. Now, only one of them is alive, and he is suing Sofia and Netflix for using “private narratives” without permission.

Griselda’s Son Accuses Sofia Vergara And Netflix Of Stealing His Private Artistic Literary Work
One of the most anticipated performances of 2024 is that of Sofia Vergara in Netflix’s ‘Griselda’. After seeing Sofia’s comedic genius, the audience cannot wait to see her portray the drug lordess of the 70s and 80s, Griselda Blanco.
However, before the premiere of the show, the team is facing a major legal hurdle as Griselda’s son, Michael Corleone Blanco, is suing the team.
Michael Corleone Blanco filed an injunction in Florida against the team on January 19, 2024, alleging that Sofia Vergara stole his “private artistic literary work” which will cause great damage to his reputation in the entertainment industry if he does not get proper credit.
Michael claims that the series is based on extensive interviews with his partners—Andres Hernandez and Rafael Alfredo Rojas Vega—between 2009 and 2022.
As per Griselda’s son, he “devoted several years to meticulously documenting the private narratives of his, as well as his mother’s life, and developing a Spanish soap opera.”
Michael Blanco alleged that the two partners “actively market and sell” his “private artistic literary work” to ‘Griselda’ producers Luis Balaguer, Melissa Escobar, Sofia Vergara, Latin World Entertainment, and Netflix. He also claims in the papers filed that he had a meeting with Luis in 2021, where the producer said that they didn’t need his consultations, and Michael also said that Balaguer was in contact with Lopez.

The Actress Talks About Getting Into The Character
Sofia Vergara looks like she seamlessly got into the character of Griselda Blanco, but it was not an easy task for the actress. During an interview with Digital Spy, she said, “I was trying to change as much as I could without looking like I was in a Halloween costume. I would wear a bra that was minimizing me and holding my butt so that it wouldn’t move like a Latin girl.”
Sofia Vergara continued, “I put myself in a body position for six months that, the only time that I didn’t go to work was because I got up in the morning and my back, I couldn’t get up because I was at 50 doing this weird position walking and smoking.” She said that she might have a disk problem, but it was all worth it, according to the actress.
