Netflix’s adaptation of the iconic ‘One Piece’ manga series was a huge surprise to the fans. Due to the anime consisting of scenes almost impossible to capture and recreate, people did not have high hopes for the show. However, the show’s creators outdid themselves, and the live-action was loved by ‘One Piece‘ fans.
While the show managed to do the impossible, it also outdid itself with the castings. Whether it was Iñaki Godoy playing ‘Luffy’ or Taz Skylar playing ‘Sanji’ the actors were the perfect fit for the roles. Additionally, the creator of the original ‘One Piece’ manga was also closely watching the production of the show.
All in all, everything worked out almost perfectly, the actors, the sets everything. However, despite the other details Taz Skylar’s behind-the-scenes was considered to be the most hardworking of all. While the actor has nailed the role of Sanji, it took a lot of effort from his side to do so.
Taz Skylar, in an interview, talked about how to portray Sanji he learned to cook alongside training for tai-kwon-do for over 8 hours a day. He claimed that due to him relating to the character on a personal level he didn’t want stand-ins for the scenes involving those skills.
In an interview with Nuit Magazine, he also confirmed that he was behind every one of the kicks performed on the show and there was no CGI. “I did absolutely every single one of my own kicks in the show. There is no CGI on my leg. And my stunt double was my trainer and was very enthusiastically cheering me from the side, “ he said.

The lead actor of the ‘One Piece‘ series Iñaki Godoy also praised Taz Skylar’s dedication towards actually learning the skills rather than just using his stunt double. In an interview at MEFCC, Godoy talked about how Taz took no breaks and was training all the time.
He even joked about Taz having a ‘training kink’. “There is no better Sanji in this world. Yesterday we landed in Abu Dhabi, and today, he woke up early, and you know what this guy did? He started to train because he is training kink, all the time.”
Additionally, Netflix’s ‘One Piece‘ was officially renewed for a second. So, Godoy also talked about how Skylar was training all the time to be the best in season 2. “So that when season 2 comes out he can do his best,” Iñaki added.
