Elon Musk’s $44 billion purchase of Twitter was just last month, and the company seems to be in chaos already. Ever since the deal, Musk and Twitter have been in the news almost daily now. His policy of getting accounts verified on the platform by only paying a charge of $8 a month, doesn’t seem to be going so great.
This has caused a rise in impersonator accounts pretending to be governments, celebrities, and companies. Fake accounts have been creating havoc and Twitter still hasn’t made any changes to tackle this problem. So here are 10 fake verified accounts causing chaos on Twitter.
10 Fake Verified Accounts On Twitter
Elon Musk
The first impersonator is of a company that is owned by none other than Elon Musk himself. Founded by Elon Musk, SpaceX is a company that makes billions of dollars through government contracts. A fake SpaceX account has come up, although reminding people of its worth. The fake account tweeted, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we will be ceasing all missions. We plan to funnel $20 million in outstanding government subsidies to groups dedicated to sustainable agriculture and ending World Hunger. We cannot look to other planets to solve our problems here.”
Donald Trump
While the real Donald Trump hasn’t been back on Twitter yet, his fake account surely has come up. The fake Trump account has been tweeting many tweets since joining. “I am proud to be back on Twitter and to give my full endorsement to resident Joe Biden on his 2024 election run,“ includes one tweet.
Kari Lake
A fake account of Republican Kari Lake, who is a supporter of Trump has come up falsely claiming that the 2020 presidential elections had been stolen by President Joe Biden. The fake account’s tweet reads, “It is with heavy heart that I must concede to my opponent @kariehobbs. We didn’t get the outcome we wanted but I promise we’ll be back even stronger in next year’s gubernatorial election.”
Apple
Apple became a member of Twitter not long ago, joining only in 2016. However, a fake account of Apple did not delay in making its account. “Introducing Apple Air+. A brand new, innovative group of atoms specifically turned to enhance your Apple store experience. Now required for entry into Apple Stores globally. e think you’re going to love it. $9.99/30m”, tweeted the impersonator.
Nestle
Nestle is a leading brand, known to steal water from the U.S. and sell it back to Americans. They do so under names like Arrowhead. But now there’s a fake account of Nestle that tweeted “We steal your water and sell it back to yo lol.”
Paul Graham
Jason Calacanis was recently hired by Elon Musk to “fix” Twitter. However, a fake account of Venture capitalist Paul Graham has been up on Twitter making crude jokes about Calacanis. “Jason Calacanis is no longer welcome at YC Demo days, Tech Talks, or the yearly YC 69 under 69 Muir Woods startup Suck-n-Fuck,” tweeted the fake Paul Graham account.
Matt Walsh
Matt Walsh is a filmmaker, especially known for being an anti-trans bigot. There’s one verified fake account of him found so far on Twitter. It tweeted “We must ban transgenders from all aspects of society (except from the porn I watch).”
Nintendo
There is apparently a fake account of Nintendo too. The account has tweeted many things including “Israel will be dealt with and it will cease to exist if Mario has anything to say about it inshallah.”
Tesla
Not only this fake account has not written “parody” in the account, it has “real” written in it. This fake account of Tesla has been making many tweets embarrassing the Elon Musk owned company. “Our analysis engineers stimulate hundreds of impact scenarios before even killing a child in real life,” tweeted the account along with a video of a Tesla striking a dummy child.”
Eli Lilli and Company
A fake account of the billion owned pharma company called Eli Lilli and Company gave out a tweet on Thursday saying “We are excite to announce insulin is free now.” The fake tweet had over 1,500 retweets and 10,000 likes before it was deleted.
These are 10 fake accounts that have resulted due to Elon Musk’s policy of revamping the platform. However, we are sure there are lots more fake accounts on the platform.
