Amy Schumer Says It All In Her Instagram Post
After a long time of getting blamed for tampon shortage across the whole nation, the comedian decided it was time to give a comeback. She replied with a screenshot of a headline of the story with a caption stating, “Whoa I don’t even have a uterus.” Schumer had a hysterectomy in September 2021. The main reason was that her endometriosis caused tremendous pain during her menstrual cycle.
The actress featured in a lot of tampon ads prior to her surgery. In one Tampax ad, she shows how to insert a tampon properly with the help of a gynecologist and a donut. After finally inserting the tampon, she takes a bite of the donut. She even goes as far as to discuss which tampon size to use in the ad to help women.
After Schumer’s series of commercials with the brand, “retail sales growth has exploded,” Proctor & Gamble spokeswoman Cheri McMaster told TIME in an article published on Tuesday, June 7. As per the outlet, “Demand is up 7.7% over the past two years, and the company is running its Auburn, Maine Tampax factory 24/7 to meet demand.”

Celebrities joined Amy Schumer in making fun of the bizarre allegation that she is behind the national tampon shortage. “What???????” commented Katie Couric in disbelief, while Kerry Washington quipped, “I knew it.” Padma Lakshmi replied, “LOL.” Amber Tamblyn didn’t even use words in order to adequately express her thoughts and posted crying emojis.
Others followed up with their own jokes. “I’ve been using hundreds of tampons a day to perform household tasks,” wrote one person. “I’m glad you’re taking the heat.” Another commented, “Lmao now you’re messing with the supply chain what’s next?”
Schumer has decided to stay healthy following her surgery. She planned on liposuction just after her hysterectomy. “C section. Hysterectomy. Lipo. This summer is about letting the love in. Trying to be healthy and strong for myself and my family. I want to feel hot too. In my prime. Let’s go. Who’s with me”, she said.
