Did Joe Jonas Rewrite Lyrics Of A Jonas Brothers Song For Taylor Swift?

Joe Jonas and Taylor Swift were both teenagers when they dated for a few months. They even attended the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards together. But, in a 27-second phone call, Jonas ended his relationship with Swift.

Joe Jonas recently changed the lyrics of a song the Jonas Brothers penned about the couple’s breakup more than a decade ago in support of his friend Taylor Swift.

A fan posted a video of the Jonas Brothers singing “Much Better” on stage during their engagement in Las Vegas on Saturday. Jonas sang the song’s first few lyrics in the video.

Joe Jonas And Taylor Swift Dated Back In 2008

“I got a rep for breaking hearts / Now I’m cool with superstars / And all the tears on her guitar / I’m not bitter” – The original lyrics, which appear to be a reference to Taylor Swift’s debut album, “Teardrops on My Guitar,” contain the line, “Now I’m done with superstars.”

Twitter users reacted positively to the reference. According to one tweet, “I AM A PROUD CHILD OF DIVORCE I LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD @taylorswift13 @joejonas.” Another added, “Why was I not in Las Vegas when Joe Jonas sang and repented for his Taylor Swift diss track ??” A third fan tweeted, “YES!!! we live that joe and Taylor are friends now.”

Jonas and Swift started dating in 2008 before breaking up later that year. Swift claimed Jonas broke up with her over the phone during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that year.

“When I find that person that is right for me, he’ll be wonderful,” she told DeGeneres of the split at the time. “And when I look at that person, I’m not even gonna be able to remember the boy who broke up with me over the phone in 25 seconds when I was 18.”

When Taylor Swift Apologised To Joe Jonas Remark

Swift apologized for the remark on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2019 and called it “too much.”

“I was 18,” the Valentine’s Day actress revealed. “We laugh about it now, but that was mouthy, yeah, just teenage stuff there.”

“Much Better“, from the Jonas Brothers’ 2009 album Lines, Vines, and Trying Times, was rumored to be about Jonas’ new relationship with Camilla Belle.

In 2010, fans theorized that the Grammy winner’s song “Better Than Revenge,” was about the “When a Stranger Calls” actress dating Jonas after their public breakup. It was inspired by the Jonas Brothers’ song.

Jonas and Swift have been on wonderful terms for years. When the DNCE singer dated Swift’s good friend Gigi Hadid for several months in 2015, the two were pictured hanging out as a group with Swift’s then-boyfriend Calvin Harris. Fans observed the two appeared to be friends again.

The Jonas Brothers recently expressed their support for Swift’s decision to re-record all of her previous albums, prompting fans to ask for collaboration on social media.

In her 2020 Folklore song “Invisible String,” the Miss Americana contestant also seemed to imply that she sent Jonas, who became a parent for the first time in 2020, a baby gift.

In a Disney+ special on the making of Folklore, she recalled “Invisible String“, which she co-wrote with Aaron Dessner. “I remember I wrote it right after I sent an ex a baby gift. I was just like, ‘Man, life is great. This is a full signifier that life is great.’”

When Swift re-recorded her album Fearless in 2021, Jonas’ connection with Swift was touched up again in the song. The “From the Vault” single “Mr. Perfectly Fine,” which was thought to be about her romance with the boy bander, was featured on the CD. Jonas’ wife Sophie Turner sarcastically reacted to Swift’s song on Instagram, tagging the singer, she wrote, “It’s not NOT a bop.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Also Read: Top Gun 2: Tom Cruise Might Overtake Will Smith As The Highest Paid Actor In A Film
