The Star Wars franchise is a cash cow for Disney studio. They have been releasing a new film, a spin-off, or a series every once in a while. The ardent ‘Star Wars‘ fans are never bored as they get to see their favorite characters over and over again.
But there is news that might irk some fans. Recently, a source suggested that the Rey Skywalker character will be erased from the ‘Star Wars’ canon.

Rey Skywalker To Be Removed From Star Wars?
The ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy received mixed responses from fans as most felt it was unnecessary. A lot of the heat was due to the character Rey Skywalker who was a beloved character in the beginning. But as the trilogy was concluding, people realized that the studio was setting her up to be a descendant of a beloved character.
Now, according to a report from Epic Stream, Disney will be erasing the polarising character from the ‘Star Wars‘ canon. In ‘The Rise of Skywalker’, it was revealed that she was Palpatine’s granddaughter. It was in contrast to many fan theories that suggested she be related to Luke Skywalker and even Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Now, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are heavily involved in rewriting some canon material and potentially fixing Rey’s character.
We don’t really know if this will turn out to be true. Last year it was rumored that Disney was planning to erase the sequels to make way for a reboot. It obviously didn’t turn out to be true.
Obi-Wan Kenobi Explores Jedi Master’s Connection With Rey Skywalker
The first episode of the Disney+ show ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ showed a connection between the Jedi Master and Rey Skywalker.
He was first hesitant to take on the task of rescuing Princess Leia after she was abducted. But, he eventually agreed. The box containing Anakin Skywalker’s or Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber was discovered years after the Jedi master had abandoned it.
Following the removal of his own lightsaber, he buries it again in the box before heading back to the arid region of the planet. The sequence of events in ‘The Rise of Skywalker’ in which Rey buried Luke and Leia’s lightsabers on the same planet, is essentially identical to this series of events.
We don’t know if this was unintentional or if the makers deliberately did it, but the fans enjoyed the sequence with Rey’s connection.
