Episode 1 Of Obi-Wan Kenobi Shows That Jedi Master Has A Connection With Rey Skywalker

Obi-Wan Kenobi made his Disney+ debut not too long ago in a galaxy far far away. The streaming series has been in development for years, and during that time, fans have seen the Rey Skywalker trilogy come and go. After staying away from the legendary role for more than a decade, Ewan McGregor’s Jedi master has finally been reunited with fans.

As a farewell to the prequel period of Star Wars, Kenobi will bid goodbye to both Obi-Wan and his former pupil and brother in arms, Anakin Skywalker.

Viewers were treated to a sort of love letter to the prequel era in the first two episodes of the series, which also acts as a bridge to the original trilogy. But where was also the representation of the sequel era? The first episode of Obi-new Wan’s series featured a dedication to Rey and the new trilogy as a whole, which may have been observed by fans.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was first hesitant to take on the task of rescuing Princess Leia when she was abducted; but, he eventually agreed to do so. The box containing Anakin Skywalker’s or legendary Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber was discovered years after the Jedi master had abandoned it.

Following the removal of his own lightsaber, he reburies the box before heading back to the arid region of the planet. The sequence of events in The Rise of Skywalker, in which Rey buried Luke and Leia’s lightsabers on the same planet, is essentially identical to this series of events.

Even though it wasn’t intentional, many followers have remarked that the event has a poetic symmetry to it.

Intentional or not, this cleverly mimics two key moments in the Star Wars universe, both of which take place on the planet of Tatooine. The fact that one of these lightsabers is the same in both situations makes it even better. Because it appears in both Obi-Wan and Rise of the Skywalker, the lightsaber used by Luke/Anakin has such emotional resonance.

Due to its final appearance in Episode IX, it serves as a metaphor for the end of Anakin’s journey with the legendary weapon.

With the third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi set to premiere next Wednesday, June 1st, fans can catch up on the first two episodes on Disney+ now.
