Elon Musk and his tweets never fail to entertain people. In his recent tweet, Musk took a dig at his billionaire peer George Soros. Musk compared the Hungarian American to the ‘X-Men‘ villain, Magneto, as he found a striking resemblance between the two of them.
The Tesla CEO shared the tweet after George Soros cut his ties with Musk’s business. In February, Soros Fund Management divested its entire holding on Twitter. After Musk took over Twitter in October, Soros divested all the 90 million preference shares he held on the social media platform.
Why Did Elon Musk Compare George Soros To ‘X-Men’ Villian?
Just a few days after Soros Fund Management sold its entire stake in Tesla, Elon Musk tweeted, “Soros reminds me of Magneto”. Magneto is a supervillain in the Marvel Comics universe. He is known to possess magnetic powers and for his antagonistic actions against humans. Without any substantiation, Elon Musk claimed that “Soros Hates Humanity”, which sparked a lot of fumes on Twitter. Although his tweet offered no context but gained more than 14 million views.

Magneto was a holocaust survivor whose journey started from being a villain who believed humans and mutants cant co-exist to an anti-hero allying with the X-men. Geroge Soros a Hungarian-American philanthropist and businessman worth $8.5 billion had been wrongly accused of being a former Nazi. Although this claim was debunked by a Reuters report in 2020, which revealed that Soros and his family were not Nazis. Instead, they were Hungarian Jews living in Budapest during World War II.

Elon Musk Faced Backslash Over His Tweet
Immediately after Elon Musk shared the tweet about George Soron being Magneto, he got in a spat with Brain Krassentein, an investigative journalist over his tweet. Krassenstein said, “Fun fact: Magneto’s experiences during the Holocaust as a survivor shaped his perspective as well as his depth and empathy”. He also added that Soros who was also a Holocaust survivor, “gets attacked nonstop for his good intentions which some Americans think are bad merely because they disagree with his political affiliations”.
Elon Musk then replied to Brain Krassentein’s tweet saying, “You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity”.
