The hustle and bustle of Hollywood has been put to a stop at the moment. With the writer’s and actor’s strikes, many films have been put on hold. And recently it seems likely that the Emmy Awards will also be postponed to next year amidst these protests. Though no official announcements have been made, various sources report a change in the dates.
SAG-AFTRA has about 160,000 members, with actors from both the film and television industries. And major A-listers of the industry including Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, and Joaquin Phoenix have all set their support for the strike. Though many issues are to be discussed by the actors, writers, and studio bosses, the problem seems to be the growing use of AI which can replace both writers and background actors. So here’s more to the Emmy Awards being postponed.

Whereas the Los Angeles Times shared that the plan was to move the event to January. Originally the award ceremony was to take place on September 18. But with the ongoing actors and studios strike, the date seems to be January 2024, which may also vary.

Emmys To Be Postponed For The First Time Since 2001
The strike became prominent as the Hollywood actors joined the queue earlier this month. They joined the film and television writers putting a hold on the industry. The use of AI may not affect the big names but it would surely affect other actors of the community.
If the decision is finalized, then this would be the first time that the Emmys are postponed after 2001. It was due to the 9/11 attacks, that in 2001 the Emmys were moved to November of that year. The ceremony was relatively smaller then.
The nominations for the Emmys were announced earlier this month. They included ‘Succession’, ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘Ted Lasso’. It can also be presumed that the Creative Arts Emmys to be held on September 9 and 10 will also be affected.
