Who Was Christine McVie?
Born in the Lake District village of Bouth, McVie’s father was a concert violinist while her mother was a psychic. In 1967, she became a member of the British blues-rock combo Chicken Shack.
Their debut release It’s Okay With Me Baby was written by and featuring McVie. In 1969-70, she was named best female vocalist by the British weekly Melody Maker.
In 1970, she joined the British-American rock band, Fleetwood Mac, as a singer and keyboardist. McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 1998.
The two-time Grammy winner married bass guitarist John McVie in 1968. They divorced in 1976. She was married to Portuguese keyboardist and songwriter Eddy Quintela from 1986 to 2003.

On 30 November, she passed away at the age of 79 after a short illness. In a statement, her family notified everyone of her death. “On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death“, it said.
“We kindly ask that you respect the family’s privacy at this extremely painful time, and we would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally.”
Fleetwood Mac also issued a statement that said, “There are no words to describe our sadness at the passing of Christine McVie. She was truly one-of-a-kind, special and talented beyond measure.”
“She was the best musician anyone could have in their band and the best friend anyone could have in their life. We were so lucky to have a life with her. Individually and together, we cherished Christine deeply and are thankful for the amazing memories we have. She will be so very missed.”
