Andrew Garfield’s Forgotten Role In ‘Doctor Who’
It may sound like an unlikely crossover, but there really was a time when Spider-Man teamed up with the Doctor to battle Daleks. In 2007, Garfield landed one of his first major TV roles in the two-part story of ‘Doctor Who.’ These were ‘Daleks in Manhattan’ and ‘Evolution of the Daleks.’

Garfield played Frank, a young man living in the slums of 1930s New York City, who joins forces with the Tenth Doctor, played by David Tennant. Although it was only a small supporting role, it became an important stepping stone in Garfield’s career.
Just five years later, he would land the role of Peter Parker in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man.’ In fact, ‘Doctor Who’ has served as an early career milestone for many beloved actors who later became household names, including Carey Mulligan, Daniel Kaluuya, and Letitia Wright.

He has always looked back fondly on his time in the Whoniverse. During a 2012 interview with BBC Radio 5, he reflected on what it meant to be part of the iconic series. “The history of ‘Doctor Who’ and the heritage and legacy of ‘Doctor Who’ is huge. It was an honor to be a part of that show, absolutely.”
He has also been vocal in his admiration for Matt Smith, who took over the role of the Doctor following David Tennant’s departure. “I’m so happy that everyone is now seeing Matt Smith for the incredible actor and Doctor that he is.”
Garfield worked with Smith in a few plays for the National Theatre in 2006, before either actor reached the level of fame they have now. Looking back, it’s remarkable to see how far both have come. Their shared connection to ‘Doctor Who‘ is just another reminder of how iconic the show has been, even for the biggest stars of the industry today.
