The attorney general asked for documents from Musk as part of ongoing litigation in the place that has charged JP Morgan Chase Bank for helping in the criminal activities of Epstein. Musk has not been charged with anything until now and the subpoena has been getting attention after the US Virgin Islands could not serve Musk since April 28, 2023.
The subpoena was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. It is seeking communications with or about Jeffrey Epstein and JP Morgan between Musk and the related parties since 2002.

JP Morgan was charged with missing the warnings regarding the cases of Jeffrey Epstein abusing women on an island. However, the bank denied the claims that they were aware of the crimes committed by Epstein.
On the other hand, Elon Musk and Tesla also denied any links between Musk and JP Morgan. There were rumors a long time back that stated that Epstein advised Musk when he was having problems with regulators regarding his proclamations that he was funded securely to make Tesla private.
