But don’t despair, as the filmmaker is currently working on the HBO series based on a screenplay from the legendary Stanley Kubrick.

Steven Spielberg To Produce ‘Napoleon’ Series For HBO
Steven Spielberg has hinted at working on the HBO adaptation of Stanley Kubrick’s unproduced screenplay ‘Napoleon.’ Before passing away, Stanley Kubrick had written a well-researched war epic about the great conqueror. However, the project is now an eight-part series for HBO.
Stanley Kubrick was an admirer of Steven Spielberg. He entrusted his close friend to direct ‘A.I. Artificial Intelligence,’ initially intended for the ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ director. According to ‘The Fabelmans‘ filmmaker, the work on the series is in the developmental stages. Stanley Kubrick’s wife, Christiane Kubrick, is assisting with the project.
“With the co-operation of Christiane Kubrick and Jan Harlan, we’re mounting a large production for HBO based on Stanley’s original script Napoleon. We are working on Napoleon as a seven-part limited series.” comes the word direct from Spielberg, as reported by Deadline.
