Morfydd Clark has received widespread praise for her performance as the elven warrior Galadriel in ‘The Rings of Power‘ also known as ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.’ Both her performance has the Amazon Prime show has been critically praised and has got impressive TV rating.
The 33-year-old Welsh actress underwent rigorous training to prepare for the role. This included combat and swimming classes. In a recent interview, Clark also addressed the joint statement that was issued in solidarity with the actors receiving online racist attacks.
Morfydd Clark Talks About The Anti-Racist Statement
Morfydd Clark’s portrayal of the elven warrior Galadriel is one of the most popular characters in Amazon’s ‘The Rings of Power‘. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Welsh actress talked about the statement issued in solidarity with actors of color.
“I think we’ve made our position clear with that statement“, she said. “And I’m really glad that we did it eventually as a whole cast. We all were united and knew that we wanted to do something. I hope that it has given people some comfort and fortified people a little.”
Clark Talks About Her Prep Work For Galadriel
Talking about the water scenes, Clark said that she had to learn how to swim as Elves are an expert in that. “I got to learn how to swim properly, because unfortunately, playing Galadriel, she has to be good at everything“, she said.
She continued, “So I actually had an ex-Olympic swimmer called Trent Bray, who now teaches children, and that couldn’t have been more perfect for me on this.” Clark also had swim doubles and stunt doubles for certain scenes.
The ‘Saint Maud‘ actress also talked about the stunts in the show. She said, “there are bits where both me and Rosalie, who’s my main stunt double, are in the shots because it makes Galadriel look like she’s super fast.”
She continued, “And, then there’s one fight in episode five, where I do all of it. And I can’t believe I got to do that.” Clark said that the show’s stunt team was very extensive.
