Book adaptations are not so uncommon nowadays. Several books have been adapted into films and TV shows over the years and another adaptation is currently on the way which will be based on Colleen Hoover’s novel ‘It Ends with Us’.
The book focused on the story of the two lead characters, Lily and Ryle. While the film is in the production phase, the film has already got involved in a controversy regarding its casting and now the author has addressed the controversy during a conversation.
Colleen Hoover Responds To Casting Controversy Of ‘It Ends With Us’ Film Adaptation
During her annual book festival in Texas, Colleen Hoover spoke to Jenna Bush Hager and addressed the age differences between the lead actors, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Hoover mentioned that the upcoming film offered a chance to remedy the ages that should have been for the lead characters in the book.
According to Hoover, while she was writing ‘It Ends with Us’, the adult genre was becoming popular and she emphasized the characters that were in college. She continued: “I made Lily very young. I didn’t know that neurosurgeons went to school for 50 years. There’s not a 20-something neurosurgeon.”
Hoover mentioned that while she made this movie, she felt the necessity to change the ages as she had to correct the mistake that she did.

Colleen Hoover Is Satisfied With The Cast Of ‘It Ends With Us’
Colleen Hoover expressed her satisfaction with the casting of the lead characters that will be portrayed by Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. Baldoni is also the producer and director for the project and Hoover was shocked to know that Lively agreed to do the film.
Hoover stated that she has been a fan of Lively for a long time but she did not express her excitement while speaking to Baldoni as she was still worried about what might happen in the future. Although filming for the project began on May 5, 2023, production is currently on hold because of the 2023 WGA strike.
