Leonardo DiCaprio’s Co-Star Brands Him “Smelly”, Says Boys Don’t “Wash All The Parts”

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s former co-stars has referred to the actor as “smelly” for his alleged lack of cleanliness. Miriam Margolyes, an 81-year-old British-Australian actress who worked with DiCaprio in the 1996 film ‘Romeo + Juliet‘, made the accusation.

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s first projects was the Baz Luhrmann film, which helped him become a worldwide star and a 90s heartthrob.

Those who have seen the ‘Harry Potter‘ films would recognize Margolyes’s character as Professor Sprout. While filming ‘Romeo + Juliet’, Margolyes, who portrayed The Nurse, was unimpressed with Leonardo DiCaprio’s cleanliness.

An 18-year-old DiCaprio was “a touch stinky because it was really hot in Mexico and young lads don’t make themselves fragrant, they don’t wash all the parts,” Margolyes stated during an interview on the UK breakfast show, ‘This Morning’.

Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield, the show’s hosts, fell out laughing at the discovery. “You thought he was wonderful, you went shopping together,” Willoughby said before Margolyes stated, “I mean he looked gorgeous back then, but he didn’t necessarily smell so great.”

Leonardo DiCaprio’s career has spanned more than three decades. While the character of Jack Dawson in 1997’s ‘Titanic‘ catapulted his career to great heights, he began his journey in the early 1990s. There have been few off-screen feuds between DiCaprio and his co-stars over the years. However, there is one actress with whom DiCaprio probably won’t work again.

‘Romeo + Juliet’ was a film starring DiCaprio and Claire Danes in 1996 when they were both in their twenties. Fans were disappointed to see that the on-screen chemistry did not necessarily convert into an off-screen bond.

According to reports, DiCaprio and Danes did not get along on set. As per Marie Claire, Danielle Danes thought DiCaprio’s on-camera antics to be both unpleasant and juvenile. DiCaprio is said to have considered her “uptight” and distasteful. Even then, the two were young at the time, so it’s unclear if they have any ill will against one another till now.
