The wait for the X-Men fans is almost over. Marvel Studios is finally making moves on its long-anticipated X-Men reboot. According to industry insider Jeff Sneider, the casting process is underway for key roles in the MCU version of the beloved mutant team.
While no official deals have been signed, rising stars Jack Champion, Sadie Sink, and Julia Butters are reportedly in the mix to play Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Kitty Pryde, respectively.
The X-Men Could Make Their MCU Debut In ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’
For fans who have been eagerly anticipating the X-Men’s official introduction into the MCU, this is a significant step forward. Since Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019, which gave Marvel Studios access to the X-Men and Fantastic Four properties, speculation about how and when the mutants would join the MCU has been on.

Now, insider reports confirm this new film will mark the true beginning of Marvel’s “Mutant Era.” Though Marvel has yet to announce an official release date, industry reports suggest the film could hit theaters in July 2027. The release date follows ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’, which is set for May 7, 2027. So, if this timeline holds, the X-Men could make their MCU debut in Secret Wars before launching into their own film.
Who Will Lead The MCU’s X-Men?
While the reported casting choices are exciting, nothing is set in stone just yet. Jack Champion and Harris Dickinson Are said to be the front-runners for Cyclops. Similarly, Sadie Sink, best known for her role in ‘Stranger Things’, is a fan-favorite choice for Jean Grey. However, scheduling conflicts could still arise.

Meanwhile, Julia Butters, who stole scenes in ‘The Gray Man’, is reportedly being considered for Kitty Pryde. Her character would be a new addition to the X-Men we’ve seen on screen. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has emphasized that the new X-Men film will feature a blend of familiar and lesser-known mutants. “Every movie post-Deadpool & Wolverine will be the Mutant Era coming into the MCU,” he previously stated.
