Hailey Bieber and Selena Gomez have been pitted against one another for years due to their respective relationship with Justin Bieber. But both women have shown nothing but respect for each other on social media. In the early 2010s, years before she began dating her future husband, Hailey would frequently tweet her admiration for Justin and Gomez.
In October 2019, shortly after Gomez released her track “Lose you to love me”- speculated to be her former romance with Justin, Hailey shared an Instagram story listening to the song “I’ll kill you.” Fans immediately started connecting the Insta story to Gomez’s latest release. Not only that but they started forming rumors which Hailey and Gomez both used to deny every time. But who knew a few skincare tutorials could cause so much drama.
Why Did Hailey’s Fans Troll Selena Gomez?
It all started on May 10 when Hailey Bieber posted a few “Get Ready With Me” videos to TikTok. Just a few hours later, Selena Gomez shared a clip of her own routine and some followers were quick to make assumptions about the intentions behind the video.
Fans flooded the singer’s comments section, writing remarks like, “It’s giving I’m a performative loser who blatantly gets away with bullying other women”. “Lol I know who she’s referring to,” one commenter wrote, per a screenshot shared by a social media user. Added another, “Wait…is she tryna make fun of you know who.”
However, Selena soon made it clear she wasn’t throwing shade. “This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health,” she wrote. “Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon.” She then turned off the comments on the controversial video.
A ‘Like’ Speaks A Thousand Word
Justin and Gomez started dating in 2011. They dated off and on for a few years before calling it over in early 2018. Just five months later Justin quietly married Hailey in New York. This sparked a feud between the fans of the model and the former Disney star.
In 2019, the New York native “liked” one of Gomez’s posts about the launch of her Rare beauty collection. By liking photos of Selena, whether it be a glam shot or ones that her friends post on Instagram, Hailey wants to show that there are no hard feelings. In March 2021 also, Hailey appeared to support Gomez by subtly liking an Instagram post of the “Come & Get It”.

It’s exhausting for everyone, and they just want people to move on so they can move on too and not focus on any further negativity or past situations.
