In 2019, Scooter Braun acquired the Big Machine Label along with his company, Ithaca Holdings. When Taylor Swift entered the industry, she started producing music under the Big Machine Label. After the acquisition, Swift raged on the internet, calling both the executives—Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta—toxic manipulators and bullies. During that time, Kelly Clarkson came out in support of the songstress, which did not sit well with Scooter Braun.

Kelly Clarkson Thinks Taylor Swift Is Brilliant
In 2019, during the whole Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun controversy, Kelly Clarkson proved to be a big supporter of the artist. She took to Twitter and wrote, “@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions. I’d buy all of the new versions just to prove a point.”

Post-that, Taylor Swift has re-recorded two of her albums, and the Swifties have come out in big numbers to support her. During an interview with Andy Cohen for SiriusXM Town Hall, Kelly came out in support of Taylor once again. She talked about the Big Machine Label controversy, where the label did not let Taylor buy her master’s.
Kelly said, “I knew it was important to her, so I thought, ‘Why don’t you just re-record them? Your fans will support you.’ Literally, she’s a genius. Not only did she re-record it, she planned this Eras Tour — like, this woman is brilliant.”

The Singer Says That Scooter Braun Was Offended by Her Move
When Kelly Clarkson tweeted about the way Taylor Swift can reclaim her music, Scooter Braun was unhappy. During the interview, Kelly continued, “Scooter took offense to it … we ran into each other, and he reached out at the time to my manager. I was like, ‘It wasn’t anything against him. ‘ “
Clarkson continued, “When she came out and said that and I heard about it, I was like, ‘Whatever. Re-record them. Your fans will support you.’ Uh, they did. She has like every top record right now in the charts!”
Scooter did not directly allude to the tweet, but Kelly recalls him contacting her ex-manager to vent out his discontent. She added, “He called my manager at the time I heard, and I think he thought I was attacking him. I was like, ‘I honest to God didn’t even realize who had the right.’ I didn’t even know all the information.”
