Selena Gomez Hits 400 Million Followers Mark On Instagram
On March 19, singer Selena Gomez became the first woman to hit 400 million followers on Instagram. She now is the 4th most followed account on Instagram after Instagram, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi. Co-incidentally, Gomez was the first person ever to hit 100 million followers on the social media app back in 2016. She was currently in a tussle with makeup mogul Kylie Jenner for being the first woman to break the 400 million mark.
Kylie Jenner was the first woman to hit the 300 million followers mark back in January 2022. She was also the most followed woman on Instagram before she lost the title to Gomez in February 2023. Jenner was the most followed woman on Instagram for an entire year before losing to Gomez. Many people attribute this loss to the eyebrow feud that Jenner was part of along with Hailey Bieber.
Selena Gomez posted some pictures with fans on Instagram to commemorate the occasion of 400 million followers. She posted nine pictures to the grid along with the caption that said, “Wishing I could hug all 400 million of you.” The post has garnered more than 17 million likes as of now and has 180 thousand comments.

Singer Becomes Is Most Followed Star After High-Profile Feud
Selena Gomez’s climb to the 400 million follower mark has been credited to her alleged feud with Hailey Bieber and Kylie Jenner. The singer has gained a massive number of followers since the feud began in February of this year. She posted a story to Instagram in February saying how she over laminated her eyebrows by mistake. The feud began when after a few hours of the story, Jenner posted on her Instagram a picture of her and Bieber’s perfect eyebrows.
Fans thought that the duo was shading Selena and being mean to her. Hailey shortly posted a TikTok along with Kendall Jenner and Justine Skye wherein they were dissing an unknown girl by saying “I am not saying she deserved it, but God’s timing is always right.” Fans thought that the comment was directed towards Gomez who was facing mean comments after posting pictures from her vacation.
The drama continued when fans alleged that Hailey Bieber was always copying Selena Gomez and was a big shipper of Selena and Justin Bieber in the past. Selena refuted any differences with Jenner but did not do the same for Bieber. This made people more suspicious of the bad blood between Gomez and Bieber. The resulting fallout has been bad for both Jenner as well as Bieber as Jenner lost a million followers after the eyebrow drama.
