Taylor Swift Wanted To Act In ‘Twilight: New Moon’. Here’s Why She Was Rejected

Taylor Swift is a force to reckon with. The legendary singer is known for her unique songwriting which she derives from her personal life. Taylor is one of the best-selling musicians of all time with over 200 million records sold worldwide. She is also the recipient of 11 Grammy Awards, and one Emmy Award among others.

But it turns out that the 32-year-old singer also has a knack for acting. She wanted to be a part of the 2009 film ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon’. The film’s director Chris Weltz revealed recently the reason why it did not work out. But it would have been interesting to see Taylor as a vampire on screen.

Swift has made brief appearances in feature films, concert films and short films. But there was a time when she wanted to act in the 2009 film ‘The Twilight Saga: New Moon‘.

The film’s director Chris Weitz talked about the casting of the film in the recent episode of The Twilight Effect Podcast. Talking about various actors who were considered for the lead, Chris mentioned Taylor Swift was one of them.

I mean the craziest one of all those was to hear that Taylor Swift was a huge Twihard right and actually Taylor Swift and I had the same agent at the time.” Weitz continued, “And [the agent] said like Taylor would like to be in this movie, not because of you, because she’s a Twihard. But she will like….someone at the cafeteria, or dinner, or whatever. But she just wants to be in this movie.”

Chris further said, “And like the hardest thing for me was to be like the moment that Taylor Swift like walks onto the screen like for about five minutes. That nobody is going to be able to process anything.”

Swift has recently been embroiled in a plagiarism lawsuit. She responded to the lawsuit that says the lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ were lifted from the plaintiffs’ ‘Playas Gon’ Play’.

The ‘You Need To Calm Down‘ singer has said that the song is written by her and she has never heard the other song.

She said, “The lyrics to ‘Shake It Off’ were written entirely by me.” Taylor wrote in her court filing: “Until learning about Plaintiffs’ claim in 2017, I had never heard the song ‘Playas Gon’ Play’ and had never heard of that song or the group 3LW.”

The allegation is from two songwriters that her 2014 smash hit is copied from a single from the group 3LW that peaked at No. 81 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2001. She said her parents did not permit her to watch TV when the song came out.
