Antony Starr may have earned a name for himself by playing the villainous mirror of Superman in the adaption of ‘The Boys‘ that was released on Amazon Prime, but it now appears that he will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
That’s correct, a source revealed that the actor who hails from New Zealand has been cast as a prominent antagonist in the MCU. It is anticipated that official communication from the Marvel team will be made public at some point in the coming months.

Antony Starr Has Joined Marvel As A Villain
For now, we don’t know who Anthony Starr is playing in the MCU, but we believe he was approached by Marvel to assist them in finally introducing Mutants. Marvel is expected to reveal Starr’s role in their next film as Sebastian Shaw, or The Black King, one of the mythos’ most shady mutants. If our assumption turns out to be correct, this will not be Shaw’s first live-action appearance. The character was played by Kevin Bacon in ‘X-Men: First Class‘, which was released in 2011.
It would be a great opportunity for Anthony Starr to show off his abilities while also taking a totally different path from what we’ve seen in ‘The Boys‘. Shaw, unlike Homelander, has the wits and, more crucially, the mental stability to match his physical prowess. His arrogance is matched only by his preference for waging war through diplomacy rather than brute force. As a result of his mutant talent, which allows him to store and utilize kinetic energy, he is the last person you would want to punch (which is why he almost always gets punched by a stronger character).
Although we can’t be certain that Starr will be playing Sebastian Shaw in Marvel’s upcoming project, the casting news fits in perfectly with other casting rumors circulating in the showbiz world.
Starr Responds To Fans Wanting To See Him As The Next Wolverine
It appears Antony Starr is open to the notion of playing Wolverine in the future. As Homelander, he’s done a good job of portraying a superhero or, more accurately, a supervillain. His fans even drew their own fan art to show their support for Starr taking on the razor-knuckled job of Wolverine.
‘Ooofff,- my bones ache just thinking of the stunk work!’ said Starr, who doesn’t appear to be completely turned off by the proposal. It’s not the first time the actor has considered portraying Logan. He recently confessed that, of all the X-Men, Wolverine was his top choice.
