After the premiere of the film, ‘The Little Mermaid’ seems to have won the critics’ approval and hearts. One thing that everyone has agreed upon is Halle Bailey’s performance. Reviews have praised her as Ariel and her portrayal of the Disney princess is fresh and real.

Halle Bailey as Ariel has been highly anticipated by viewers from the moment the first-look posters were revealed. And now the reviews have made it certain that the audience is in for a treat. Bailey is the first black actor in a Disney live-action movie. And, the importance of her character and her performance is huge in making an impact on the audience. Bailey understands this and has said, “I want the little girl in me and the little girls just like me who are watching to know that they’re special and that they should be a princess in every single way. There’s no reason that they shouldn’t be. That reassurance was something that I needed.”

Twitter has been exploding with all the tweets about the first reactions to ‘The Little Mermaid‘. Critic Courtney Howard said, “Charming, but incredibly spotty. Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Melissa McCarthy & Javier Bardem put their heart & souls into a film that can’t escape its animated legacy. Best when it leans into campy bonkers, yet limits its fantasy elements for no reason.”

Other critics also took to Twitter to give their reactions. Meanwhile, many have praised the movie as Disney’s one of the best live actions so far. Director Rob Marshall has also been praised for his cinematography alongside the other actors in ‘The Little Mermaid‘. Here are some more Twitter reactions.
