Tennis legend Serena Williams’s life was portrayed on the silver screen with the film ‘King Richard.’ Will Smith, who won an Oscar for playing her dad’s role, was in the news for slapping Chris Rock.
In an interview with Gayle King for CBS Mornings, the 41-year-old sportsperson finally addressed the incident almost a year later. King asked her about “that moment at the Oscars.”
“I thought it was such an incredible film, and I feel that there was an incredible film after that with Questlove that kind of was overshadowed,” Williams said. “But I also feel that I’ve been in a position where I’ve been under a lot of pressure and made a tremendous amount of mistakes, and I’m the kind of person that’s like, ‘I’ve been there. I’ve made a mistake.’”
She further added, “We’re all imperfect, and we’re all human, and let’s just be kind to each other. So, that’s often forgotten a lot.”

During the 94th Academy Awards, comedian Chris Rock was hosting the event. He was presenting the award for best documentary for Questlove’s ‘Summer of Soul.’ At that moment, he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness.
Smith, who initially laughed, went on stage and slapped Rock. He subsequently yelled at Rock to keep her name out of his mouth. Later on, Smith won the Best Actor award and apologized to everyone, except Rock.
The ‘Men In Black‘ actor apologized to the comedian a day later via social media and a YouTube video a few months later. He was banned from attending Academy events for a decade.
