No, Avril Lavigne is not dead. She is still in the industry and had her seventh album released in 2022. The artist had been absent from the music industry for some time. This was after she had been affected by Lyme disease, which she had struggled to overcome. As the singer is back on stage so has the conspiracy theory that surrounds her.
It was in 2005 that the conspiracy theory first started to move around. According to the theory, Avril had taken her own life after the trauma of the death of her grandfather. The theory states that Avril was replaced by a lookalike with the name Melissa Vandella. Vandella had been hired earlier to protect Lavigne from intrusive media. However, with Avril’s death, now the record label decided to replace Melissa with Avril.

“More like that it’s just a dumb internet rumor and [I’m] flabbergasted that people bought into it. Isn’t that so weird? It’s so dumb,” Avril had responded to the long-existing rumor. “And I look the exact same. On one hand, everyone is like, “Oh my god, you look the same,” and on the other hand people are like “Oh my god, she died,” the Head Above Water singer said in the interview.
