Why Jenna Ortega Didn’t Return For ‘You’ Season 4?

Thanks to ‘Wednesday,’ Jenna Ortega is now a bona fide superstar. The former Disney kid is making huge strides. By featuring in ‘X‘ and ‘Wednesday,’ Ortega is now synonymous with the horror genre. She was supposed to return to ‘You‘ season four.

Sera Gamble, the creator of the Netflix series ‘You‘ wanted to bring Jenna Ortega back for their fourth season. She would reprise her role of Ellie. Unfortunately, or instead, fortunately, Tim Burton cast her as Wednesday Addams. Her casting in ‘Wednesday‘ came in the middle of her return as Ellie.

Conflicting shooting schedules are to be blamed for Jenna Ortega’s inability to return to ‘You.’ Sara Gamble, the creator and showrunner for ‘You,’ say down in conversation with IndieWire to talk about considering bringing back Jenna to reprise her role of Ellie.

Sera Gamble told IndieWire, “We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna is doing some show. It’s been just such a pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.”

Joe Goldberg and Ellie in ‘You

Jenna Ortega’s dance card is looking packed. In addition to appearing in the new installment of the ‘Scream‘ franchise, she’s also returning for the second season of ‘Wednesday.’

Jenna Ortega, as Ellie, is one of the few people aware of Joe’s murderous appetite. We’ve seen how the show keeps calling back the ghosts of Joe’s past. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say Ellie will return.

Sara Gamble confirms the following theory: “Any character who’s not dead who knows anything about Joe, it’s fair game to try to exert any justice. And any character who is dead, he has a really active imagination.”

The fourth season of ‘You‘ is currently streaming on Netflix.
