Justice Brett Kavanaugh of the Supreme Court was accused of inappropriate behavior in 2018. Before former President Donald Trump nominated Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, a number of women made accusations of sexual misconduct and assault against him.
Currently, Doug Liman’s under-the-radar documentary Justice is centered on the allegations against Kavanaugh. Christine Blasey Ford, who claimed that Kavanaugh tried to attack her while they were in high school together in the 1980s, is interviewed in the documentary. Additionally, other women have come forward with fresh claims, from his time at Yale. Brett, however, has denied all the allegations. And one person who has stood by him is his wife Ashley Estes Kavanaugh. Here’s everything you need to know about Mrs. Kavanagh.
Who Is Ashley Estes Kavanaugh?
Brett Kavanaugh practiced law in Washington, D.C., before Trump appointed him as a justice of the Supreme Court in July 2018. He first met Ashley Estes in 1990, the year he graduated from Yale Law School. The 48-year-old then served as a personal secretary to President George Bush. She currently manages a town in the D.C. suburbs, according to The Washington Post.
Brett joined Bush’s White House staff as a secretary in 2003. Bush and his wife, Laura, were present for Estes and Kavanaugh’s wedding the following year in Washington, D.C. The newlyweds’ political careers kept progressing after their marriage. Soon after, The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia swore Brett in as a judge in 2006. As of now, the couple has two kids – Liza and Margaret.
Then-President Donald Trump expressed regret to the family for the claims during Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court inauguration, which both of his daughters attended. He apologized to Brett and the whole Kavanaugh family, saying, “On behalf of our nation, I want to apologize to Brett and the entire Kavanaugh family for the terrible pain and suffering you have been forced to endure.”

What Did Ashley Say About Brett’s Sexual Misconduct Allegations?
When Christine Blasey Ford’s claims of sexual assault were first made public Ashley stood by her husband. The Kavanaughs sat next to one another while rejecting accusations of Brett’s sexual misconduct during an appearance with Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum. Ashley said that she had no concerns that her husband was being wrongly accused when asked if she believed in Brett’s innocence. “This is not at all characteristic. It’s really hard to believe. He’s decent. He’s kind. And he’s good. I know his heart. This is not consistent with Brett,” she explained. “I mean, I know Brett — I’ve known him for 17 years.”
Soon after, following Blasey Ford’s testimony in October 2018, Congress declared that “no corroboration of the allegations” had been discovered. Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th judge of the Supreme Court two days later and appointed to a lifetime position.
Social media, however, sees Ashley in a different light. Twitter users seem to believe that Ashley has been ‘coerced’ into taking her husband’s side.
