“I Just Laid Down And Cried And Cried”: Gina Carano Recalls Getting Fired From ‘The Mandalorian’ And Lawsuit Over ‘Disrespect And Shame’

Celebrity cancellation is not a new concept these days. Sometimes famous people post or say something during their interviews or on social media which is ethically wrong and can lead them to getting canceled or even losing a role in the projects they’re working on. A similar situation happened with actress Gina Carano.

Carano used to play the role of Cara Dune on the ‘Star Wars‘ series, ‘The Mandalorian‘. But due to her controversial post involving the COVID-19 vaccines and pronouns, she had to face firing from the series. She has finally addressed the incident.

It has been three years since Gina Carano was fired from ‘The Mandalorian‘ and she has an ongoing lawsuit with Disney and Lucasfilm. She also lost her role in ‘Star Wars‘ as well in 2021 after her series of controversial posts.

During COVID-19, she stated that the vaccines provided and the 2020 elections were part of the voter fraud amid Donald Trump’s disapproval claims of election rigging, which she used to spread misinformation and memes on the same topic. Moreover, she even picked on the divisive topic of Jewish plight in Nazi Germany.

Defending her misconduct, she said that “just made sense — don’t hate your neighbor. Before the Nazis were as powerful as they became, you had to make it OK to hate this person next to you. That’s how we get to dangerous places. And history does repeat itself.” Later for her own actions, she filed a lawsuit against Disney and Lucasfilm.

In an interview with Hollywood Reporter, the actress shared how it felt like ‘disrespect and shame’. She cried into a fetal position after the company released the statement of removing her online. She couldn’t believe “the most powerful entertainment company in the world saying that about me.”

She also mocked certain pronouns in her Twitter bio in 2021. To show her solidarity towards the trans community she added boop/bop/beep. However, she later removed them and claimed that it was never meant to mock any particular community.

Gina was also asked to apologize for her actions to Lucasfilm. “Boop/bop/beep? Seriously? This was the start of the end for me?” Carano said, reflecting on the controversy. “A 20-year career, the blood, sweat and tears of fighting? I never compromised myself for a job. I never ended up in a bad situation where I did anything inappropriate. I had a clean and clear climb to where I got to and was going to just keep going. And boop/bop/beep was that harmful?” she said in an interview. It seems like the actress is now more focused on clearing her name.

Gina Carano got famous for dating Henry Cavill. But when things dwindled for her and she filed a lawsuit in California federal court against the wrong allegations put against her, another man came to her rescue for the prejudice she was facing. Surprisingly, Elon Musk is supporting the actress by funding her case and she is glad about that.

She said, “I think it’s pretty incredible what he is doing,” continuing “A lot of billionaires put their money into buying islands and building bunkers. Elon Musk is using his money to fight massive injustice battles.” Many people questioned what battles she was referring to as she was the one putting out the hate speech and then ‘started playing the victim’.
