There is a huge time lag between the various prequels of Star Wars and the current Obi-Wan series. The lag is filled with a lot of stories of rebels who can be seen fighting back. And the time between fans knowing Obi-Wan Kenobi and that of the new series is of almost 10 years. Well, Viewers meet Obi-Wan again as Sir Alec Guinness.
*Spoiler Alert! This article contains spoilers for the first two episodes.
The first two episodes of the new Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi reveal that the beloved Jedi is as lost as the rest of the galaxy. On the other hand, Ben is struggling to find his place on Tatooine. Also, he has resigned himself to a life of loneliness while protecting Luke Skywalker. But these two episodes of the debut of the series show us that “Ben” is going to discover a lot about the world he believes he understands.
What Does The Character Of Obi-Wan Kenobi Look Like In The Series?
Obi-Wan is lost in the sense that he is no longer a Jedi. And when other Jedi want his assistance, he ignores them. He has a task, and it is his responsibility to defend and watch out for Luke, and he is unconcerned about anything else. He’s in agony and calls out to the Force Ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn, but receives no response. And it is in that alone time that he forgets who he is.
However, when his old buddy Bail Organa requires his assistance, he must accept that he is still the Jedi that Qui-Gon trained him to be. Leia has been kidnapped, which is why Bail came to Obi-Wan in the first place.
Leia Is Kidnapped But The Reason Is Not So Simple!
Hunters who are working for Reva, who is trying to track down Obi-Wan, capture Vivien Lyra Blair(Princess Leia) as she goes out to the woods. But both Bail and Ben believe they kidnapped Leia for political reasons. So Obi-Wan resolves to assist Organa in his search, and when he does, he discovers the truth that Anakin Skywalker is still alive.
Obi-Wan assumed Anakin was dead in episode 2 and was ignorant of Darth Vader’s existence. We witness how much Ben misses Anakin and Padme during his “rescue” of Leia, which is similar to the rescue we see in A New Hope in that she has already rescued herself by the time he arrives.
