“Republicans Were Supressed 10 Times The Rate Of Democrats”: Elon Musk Claims Twitter 1.0 Was Controlled By Far-Left

Elon Musk has been envisioning Twitter, now called X, as the melting pot of free speech, as he feels that it is the bedrock of democracy. Since he acquired X, Musk has been at it to reinstate free speech on the platform, as he felt that it was stifled during Jack Dorsey’s tenure as CEO of X. The billionaire has always targeted the Democrats and criticized Joe Biden for his economic policies.

When Elon Musk took over X in October 2022, he reinstated the accounts of controversial personalities like Donald Trump and Kanye West. After the January 6 violence, Trump was permanently banned from using the platform for inciting violence after his defeat in the election against Joe Biden. Trump felt that the election was rigged due to discrepancies in the mail-in voting. But banning Trump was part of a larger picture, as he was perpetuating conspiracy theories, making misogynistic tweets, and spreading false information. Now, Musk has accused Jack Dorsey of targeting the far-right and breaching their right to free speech.

Even before the acquisition of Twitter, aka X, Elon Musk has been taking a dig at Democrats and Joe Biden for their poor handling of inflation. Even though he accepted that he voted for the Democratic Party once, he has been leaning toward the right. He advocated for free speech and wanted to make X a leveling field for ideologies, including those of the Taliban, to exist on the platform.

Recently, Elon Musk appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, where he discussed many things, including the past state of Twitter when it was with Jack Dorsey. In a clip from ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ shared on X, Musk made big claims, including Twitter being an arm of the government.

He said, “The degree to which—and by the way, Jack didn’t really know this—but the degree to which Twitter was simply an arm of the government was not well understood by the public.”

During Jack Dorsey’s tenure as the CEO of Twitter, the platform was going through a turmoil of free speech. Donald Trump went rampant with falsified claims and conspiracy theories about the rigged elections. After the debacle, Elon Musk reinstated Trump, but he refused to be back on the platform.

Nevertheless, without his existence, X has seen an increased amount of misinformation being peddled on the platform since Musk’s takeover. His flag-bearer stance of free speech hampered civil discourse on the platform. Still, during the Joe Rogan platform, he claimed that some social parasites from the far right were oppressed in comparison to the Democrats.

Elon Musk claimed that all and any views on the right or mild-right were oppressed by Jack Dorsey’s Twitter. He added, “any views that would be considered middle of the road… but certainly anything on the right, I’m not talking far-right, mildly-right like Republicans were suppressed at ten times the rate of Democrats.”

Musk reasoned, “That’s because old Twitter was fundamentally controlled by the far-left, completely controlled by the far-left.”
