Elon Musk has been constantly hustling and straddling between his business ventures. Since he acquired Twitter in October 2022, the platform has been going through a constant revamp. Musk is trying to achieve his vision of converting the platform into ‘Twitter 2.0’. He has been parading for changes on Twitter since the time he was a shareholder. But, since he became the CEO, there have been many radical policy and interface changes happening on Twitter.
When the Tesla owner finally completed the deal to buy Twitter after many hurdles, it was just the beginning of many bumps to come. The advertisers halted advertising on the platform when he bought the microblogging site due to activists’ pressure. Advertising was one of its primary sources of revenue for Twitter. Due to heavy losses, he also fired more than half of the employees including engineers. Recently, he fired an engineer due to low engagement. And now, Twitter is flooded with just Elon Musk tweets.

Elon Musk Dominates The “For You” Feed On Twitter
Time and again Elon Musk has raised the issue of engagement on Twitter. When he was a shareholder at Twitter, he reprimanded big celebrities like Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber for the lack of Twitter activity. After the acquisition, Musk introduced the ‘View Count’ feature in December 2022. Like views on videos, now the users can see the views on a particular tweet.
However, the new CEO complained about low engagement on his Twitter account. During a meeting with his engineers and advisors, Musk asked them why his engagement is low despite 100 million followers. He said, “This is ridiculous. I have more than 100 million followers, and I’m only getting tens of thousands of impressions”. The engineers showed him Google Trends analytics which has heavily affected his popularity. Elon was dissatisfied with the explanation and he fired his engineer.
After the incident, Twitter users have been seeing a pattern on their feeds. The whole ‘For You’ feed is filled with the billioanire’s tweets. On 13th February 2023, users started seeing that their feed is filled with Musk’s tweets and replies to many other tweets on the microblogging site.

Long day at Twitter HQ with eng team
Two significant problems mostly addressed:
1. Fanout service for Following feed was getting overloaded when I tweeted, resulting in up to 95% of my tweets not getting delivered at all. Following is now pulling from search (aka Earlybird).… https://t.co/oMW54chhRz

Users on Twitter have reacted to his takeover of their feeds.
Every time my feed switches, much to my displeasure, to the “for you” tab, I get to see some @elonmusk dribble. Surely he can’t be that desperate for attention?

Hey, @elonmusk , how come the "For you" feed shows me Ted Cruz, Matt Gaetz, Empty Greene, GOP, Bobo the Clown, and, of course, your ugly mug, but no Democrats?
Free speech, my ass. More like a propaganda firehose.
