Prince Harry has become a disgraced member of the royal family since he and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from royal duties. He created a rift between the family with his constant attack on the institution through various mediums. But the royal family is not the only one affected by the confessions and revelations. Harry himself has gotten into trouble due to it. His confessions about consuming several hard drugs have put his US residency in trouble.
During the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan,’ and the book ‘Spare,’ Prince Harry confessed that he has tried drugs like cocaine, weed, and mushrooms. These are Class-A drugs whose possession and consumption might lead to imprisonment and/or heavy fines. After the royal exit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle shifted their bases to Montecito, California, USA. During immigration, it is important to have no drug history, or else it may lead to deportation. After a conservative think tank sued Homeland Security for their negligence in the matter, the authority is still adamant about not releasing any information regarding Harry’s US Visa application.
Department Of Home Security Rejects To Release The Status Of Prince Harry’s Visa Application
In ‘Spare,’ Prince Harry confessed to consuming several drugs without any fear of consequences. At the age of 17, Harry tried cocaine, and in the US, he tried magic mushrooms. He said that he wanted to see a world that was “just as real and twice as beautiful.” But a conservative think tank, The Heritage Foundation, filed a lawsuit against the Department of Home Security for not taking any legal action against him.
In March, The Heritage Foundation submitted a Freedom of Information Act request for the release of the status of Prince Harry’s visa application. However, the Department of Home Security rejected the plea. Now, for the second time, the US government body has been asked to release the status of Harry’s visa application. But the DHS rejects the Freedom of Information Act request.

Washington D.C. Court Heard The Case Against DHS
In June 2023, the Washington D.C., court started the hearing of The Heritage Foundation’s lawsuit against the Department of Home Security. During the hearing, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Sam Dewey, argued, “This is obviously a case about the Duke of Sussex. What this case is truly about is the DHS and the DHS’ compliance with the law.”
The lawyer cited a quote from George Washington University’s Immigration Clinic’s Director, Alberto Benítez. He was quoted as saying, “He would have been asked [about drug use]. If he was truthful in his answers, he should have been denied.” The lawyer, Carl Nichols, asked the defendants to respond in a week. The Department of Home Security denied revealing the details of Harry’s visa application.
