The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle opened up about the issues she faced during her pregnancy. Social Media platforms have become an open space for people to scrutinize celebrities and other internet personalities. Furthermore, Meghan revealed the extent of online bullying she received while talking at the annual SXSW Festival in Austin.
Ever since marrying into the royal family, Markle has been bashed by people over any minor or major thing. Besides her, a lot of other celebrities have also been victims of online hate. Furthermore, Markle had previously also clapped back at reporters who were insinuating that her relationship with Prince Harry was ‘dented’.

Meghan Markle Wants A Change In How People Behave Online
Meghan has never shied away from confrontation. Despite the Royal family always being in the headlines and the public eye, Meghan has managed to keep her ground. Meghan was invited to the SXSW Festival as the keynote speaker for International Women’s Day. Furthermore, throughout her time speaking h Markle was very positive. However, while speaking on the ‘online bullying and cruelty’ issue Meghan did not shy away and stated that the situation needs to be controlled.
She said, “The bulk of the bullying and abuse that I was experiencing on social media and online was when I was pregnant with Archie and with Lili”, You just think about that and really wrap your head around why people would be so hateful – it is not catty, it is cruel.”
She claimed that most of the bullying she endured online was while she was pregnant which made things even worse. She revealed that the bullying got very cruel while she was pregnant with her children Lili and Archie. Furthermore, she questioned why people would share hateful things about a woman to their friends.

“We Have Forgotten About Our Humanity”: Meghan
Meghan further added that if it were people’s own family members they would not do the same. She claimed that people who spread hate on social media need to look into themselves. She then advocated that there needed to be a change. Moreover, her speaking out on the online bullying subject led women across the internet to agree with her and speak up about their own situations.
She concluded, “If it was your friend, or your mum, or your daughter, you wouldn’t do it. I think that is the piece that is so lost right now with what is happening in the digital space and in certain sections of the media – we have forgotten about our humanity and that has got to change.”
